Do you love African literature? Time to mark your calendar for #ReadingAfrica 2021!
If you're not familiar with us already, I'd like to introduce you to Catalyst Press, an independent publisher based in the USA and South Africa with a primary focus on books by African authors. This year, we're proud to host our fifth annual Reading Africa Week celebration, and we would love to have you join us.
We created Reading Africa Week to celebrate the authors, publishers and booksellers who are doing so much to bring African literature to more readers. It's also an opportunity to spotlight the diversity of African literature — from comics, to mysteries, to romance, and more—because we know African literature is a wide array of genres and styles, and all readers can find something to love.
Each year during the first full week of December, we invite publishers, authors, educators, librarians, readers, and book-lovers of all kinds to use the hashtag #ReadingAfrica across social media to highlight posts that celebrate African literature. Whether it's a new release or an old favorite, from sci-fi to poetry, this is an opportunity to spotlight great writing from across the continent.
This year's #ReadingAfrica week will be held from December 5-11. Each year, the participation has increased and we're hoping that this year is no different—and we've even added a lineup of epic virtual panels for you to join, featuring emerging and award-winning writers and publishers of African literature. Starting December 5, we invite you to share what you're reading and tag the following hashtags to participate!
#ReadingAfrica
#OokInAfrikaans
#FundaNathi
In the meantime, give us a follow on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to keep up to date on all the amazing events, giveaways, and virtual challenges we'll be hosting during this year's Reading Africa Week.
If you're interested in cohosting an event, let us know? You can contact Izak de Vries who will pass it on.
Please share news of the event far and wide!
Can't wait to hear how you're #ReadingAfrica!
