Booktown Richmond is proud to announce, for the second time, the South African Independent Publishers Awards - awards that recognise excellence in the burgeoning field of self-published books in South Africa. In Richmond we pride ourselves on finding the best self-published authors to invite to BookBedonnerd, our literary festival held every October.
It therefore gives me great pleasure to call on all self-published authors to enter their books in the 2016 Independent Published Awards of South Africa. The closing date for all entries is the 15 April 2016.
As with all the overseas awards for self-published books, there will be no prize money.
It is intended to be about recognition.
And with recognition come, hopefully, more sales.
However, I would like to assure all participants that the sculptures they will receive will enjoy pride of place on their mantelpieces.
Books can be entered in any one of the following categories. We look forward to your entries:

The prize-giving ceremony will be held at the JM Coetzee / Athol Fugard Festival which we host in the last full weekend of May 2016 in Booktown Richmond. All shortlisted authors will be invited to the festival. Judges will be announced at the end of April 2016.
