Marianne Thamm en Dimitri Jacobs verkies tot Suidoosterfees-direksie
Die bekroonde joernalis en skrywer, Marianne Thamm, en Dimitri Jacobs, Direkteur: menslike hulpbronne van Two-a-Day in Grabouw, is pas as nuwe direksielede van die Suidoosterfees aangestel.
Prof. Brian Figaji, voorsitter van die fees se direksie, verwelkom dié aanstellings in ’n tyd van voortdurende veranderinge in die kunsteomgewing. “Ons sien uit na die vaardighede wat die nuwe lede tot die feesopset bring.”
Marianne Thamm is reeds meer as 40 jaar aktief in die joernalistieke arena in Suid-Afrika. Sy is die assistent-redakteur van Daily Maverick en het verskeie kere op die paneel van die Fleur du Cap-toekenningskomitee gedien. Sy is passievol oor veeltaligheid en beskryf haarself as ’n “gulsige verbruiker” van onder andere die kunste, fotografie, dans, teater en televisie. Verskeie boeke het uit haar pen verskyn, onder meer die memoire Hitler, Verwoerd, Mandela en ek; The Last Right – Craig Schonegevel’s struggle to live and die with dignity; en To Catch A Cop – The Paul O’Sullivan Story.
Dimitri Jacobs is in diens van Two-a-Day in Grabouw, en hy is ook ’n nie-uitvoerende direkteur van 12 ander maatskappye, waaronder Elgin Waste Management, Grabouw Skills Centre en Tru Cape Fruit Marketing. Dimitri het met sy kundigheid al enorme bydraes aan die Grabouw-gemeenskap gelewer, en hy is onder meer betrokke by Kindersorg Suid-Afrika se tak in dié Wes-Kaapse dorp.
“Dit is vir my ’n absolute voorreg en eer om deel te vorm van ’n direksie in beheer van een van die belangrikste feeste in Suid-Afrika,” sê Dimitri. “My agtergrond is hoofsaaklik in die landbou, produkvervaardiging en sosiale industrieë, en ek sien baie daarna uit om my ondervinding toe te pas binne die kunste-industrie.”

The celebrated journalist and author Marianne Thamm and Dimitri Jacobs, Group Human Resources Director of Two-a-Day in Grabouw, had been appointed as board members of the Suidoosterfees.
Prof. Brian Figaji, chairman of the festival’s board, welcomed the appointments at a time the arts industry faces continuous challenges. “We look forward to the contribution that the new members’ skills will bring to the festival landscape.”
Marianne Thamm has more than 40 years’ experience as a journalist in South Africa. She is assistant editor of Daily Maverick and has served on the panel of the Fleur du Cap Awards. Thamm is passionate about multilingualism and describes herself as a “greedy consumer” of the arts, photography, dance, theatre and television. She authored several books, including the memoir Hitler, Verwoerd, Mandela and me; The Last Right – Craig Schonegevel’s struggle to live and die with dignity; and To Catch a Cop – The Paul O’Sullivan Story.
Dimitri Jacobs works at Two-a-Day in Grabouw, and he serves as non-executive director of 12 other companies, including Elgin Waste Management, Grabouw Skills Centre and Tru Cape Fruit Marketing. With his knowledge and skills Dimitri has made valuable contributions to the community of Grabouw, where he serves as vice-chairman of Child Welfare South Africa’s branch.
